Foundation Degrees

Newman University College’s professional development courses are delivered by staff who have genuine understanding of the industry and professions to which the training relates. This enables them to put theory into context and understand the day-to-day challenges faced by students in their professional lives.

Newman’s students come from a variety of backgrounds. For some the lack of a formal qualification has limited their career development potential, others simply recognise the need to remain aware of the latest developments in their field. This results in education which enhances students’ abilities and enables their organisation to improve the quality of service provided.

The aim of foundation degrees is to focus on work-based learning, enabling you to make connections between theory and practice supporting professional development. Successful completion of a foundation degree will enable you to progress on to the final year of an Honours degree in a related subject.

Foundation degree courses at Newman are designed to invigorate your mind, build self-confidence and develop a range of skills relevant to your job as well as providing a valuable academic qualification. Newman’s Foundation Degrees have been developed recognising that students have busy lives and other demands on their time. Part-time courses typically run in the evenings and/or at weekends to allow you to combine study and work commitments.

Entry requirements are flexible too, recognising the value that students with significant work experience in relevant areas bring to the group as well as a variety of vocational and academic qualifications.
