eLECTRONIC Resource LIcenses

Newman Library arranges access to a variety of electronic resources which are available via the Electronic Resources web page. Each resource has a license agreement or terms and conditions for use which stipulate whether material can be downloaded and printed and whether electronic copies can be made. You should ensure that you are aware of any restrictions and conditions attached to the resources you use.

The following conditions are found in many of the licenses:

  • Only Authorised users are allowed to access resources - Newman students and staff are Authorised users - but you should be aware that you should not pass on any password details, either for Athens or any individual resource, to anyone else.
  • Most resources allow the downloading of material (references to articles and full-text if available) and printing of a copy for personal use.
  • Usage of downloaded or printed material for any commercial benefit is not sanctioned without prior written agreement from the publisher.
  • Any copyright notices must not be removed, changed or hidden from downloaded materials.

Please see below for details of license agreements to individual resources.
