| Information for visiting library users |
If you would like to use Newman Library, there are two options available:
Register as an External Borrower
You can become a member of the library for up to a year, which you can renew as required. This entitles you to borrow up to 6 items at any given time. You will not be able to access any open access computers or Newman network facilities.
The fees are as follows:
Standard charge:
£50.00 per annum
£25.00 for 6 months
£10.00 for 3 months trial period
Former Newman staff and students
pay a concessionary fee as follows:
£25.00 per annum
£12.50 for 6 months
One member of teaching staff from each Partnership school may join free of charge, please contact the library in advance so that we can make the necessary checks prior to your visit.
You will need to complete a registration form and arrange a time to visit Newman to be photographed for an ID card. Contact Newman Library to arrange your visit either by e-mail or telephone.
Once you have joined the Library, you will be able to visit at any time during Library opening hours.
Library Access Schemes
You will need to register at your own institution’s library first to join under the SCONUL Access scheme. Depending on what type of course you are on or whether you are a member of staff, you can use the library for reference access and may be entitled to borrow library materials. We accept borrowers in all SCONUL Access bands - A, B and C. You must bring the library card from your own institution as well as your SCONUL Access card. You will not be able to access any Library PCs or Newman network facilities. For more details please visit the SCONUL Access website.
You will usually be able to gain access to the Library at the following times, when both the Library and main Newman reception are open. Occasionally, due to unforseen circumstances it is necessary to amend these hours at short notice, so it is recommended that you call the Library on the day of your visit to check access for that day.
