Study spaces

For the academic year 2010/11, the Library is in temporary accommodation and study space has been re-arranged as follows:.

  • Study spaces available around the library at study carrels and desks
  • Silent study room in the library with space for eight people
  • Group study room available for up to four people
  • Local History Room can be used as a group study room

All rooms operate on a first come first served basis and are not bookable.

Study spaces with computers are located on the floors above and below the Library.

Photocopiers

Microfilm and microfiche reader / printers

The larger machine located in the corner of the photocopy area can be used to read and print both microfilm and microfiche.

The cost of printing is 10p per A4 sheet. The smaller machine can be used to read microfiche. Some material may require a lens size which we do not have available, please ask library staff for help if you are experiencing problems.

DVD / Video player / CD player

The following facilities are available:

  • Television with DVD and video player in the School Experience Resources area (A19)
  • Television with video player in the School Experience Resources area (A21)
  • CD player in the School Experience Resources area (A21)

Please borrow headphones from the Issue desk to use any of these facilities.

Facilities outside the Library in the LASSC building - Computing facilities / Printers / Scanner

There are approximately 36 open access computers below the Library on the ground floor of the Library and Student Support Centre (LASSC) in rooms L1-1, L1-2 and the open plan area of the Arts block corridor. There are a further 18 available in the Student Support area above the Library. There are two printers in L1-1 (one colour and one black and white) and two in the Student Support area (one colour and one black and white).

A scanner is attached to an open access PC in L1-1.
