History

The History subject area at Newman University College is active in academic research. Expertise within the subject area covers a number of fields of history, from the social history of the West Midlands region of England to late Victorian political culture; from the ancient Greek world to the Napoleonic Empire. All academic staff within the department publish and present papers at national and international conferences. The subject area currently has postgraduate students studying British culture in early twentieth century and, Anglo-American relations in the 1960s and will be seeking funding for PhD studentships in the near future.

  • The French Revolution and Napoleonic Empire
  • The History of the West Midlands – political, social or cultural
