UK Series 5 |

Big Brother came back to UK screens for a fifth, 10 week run concluding on 6th August 2004. To avoid a similar series to last year (which was received poorly by the press and public) Big Brother turned evil! Twelve housemates entered the house which was again based at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire. These twelve housemates were all opinionated people with strong characters are were, under the pressures of Big Brother, very likely to clash. Evil Big Brother saw alarms played so that housemates couldn't sleep during the day, a see through bathroom so that housemates were no longer granted even an ounce of privacy and more twists and turns than any other previous Big Brother series. The series will be mostly remembered for 'Fight Night'. After a double fake eviction, Michelle and Emma were lead to a bedsit next door to the Big Brother house where they could watch and hear their fellow housemates. This, of course, led to them hearing some comments they didn't really want to hear. They were allowed to return to the Big Brother house on Day 20 unknown to the other housemates. Chaos broke out during a welcome back party with all the housemates involved in a brawl in the living room. Live streaming was cancelled and for the first time in Big Brother UK history security had to get involved. Housemates were separated for the night in two rooms and police were involved. After the row of Day 20, Emma was not allowed to make a return to the house and was evicted immediately. A Big Brother psychologist, who warned Endemol of the group dynamics, resigned as a result of the fight. Luckily, housemates were able to hold some sort of peace in the house and were able to see the further 51 days through until Nadia (a Portuguese transsexual) became the fifth UK winner of Big Brother. |
