Series four is often considered to be the most boring of all the UK series'. Producers tried to stir things up, but ratings fell and the series wasn't as successful as in years gone by.

Interior of the Big Brother Series 4 houseThe series began on 23rd May running until 25th July 2003 and taking place at the same house as Series 3, with a slight revamp. This series saw many surprises, mainly to try to win back viewers and save the series overall. These surprises included the public voting an evicted housemate back into the house. After a double eviction (the first in the UK), Jon Tickle was voted back in but was not allowed to win.

Big Brother Africa LogoAnother surprise was Cameron Stout, the eventual winner, swapping places with a housemate from Big Brother Africa, which was running at the same time. Gaetano Juko Kagwa was flown to the UK to take Cameron's place.

One further, but unplanned surprise, was a bomb scare. All housemates had to be evacuated, the first time in Big Brother UK history that all housemates have left the house at once. Streaming was closed and the housemates were taken to a secure room in the studios. They returned later that night as police revealed it was just a hoax.

New housemate, Lisa Jeynes, was introduced to further liven things up. She found it difficult to integrate with the group as they were so close and was often seen alone or isolated from them.
