About Birchfield Harriers heading

Birchfield Harriers were formed in 1877 where they were the first club to own their own track and employ a full time administrator. The Club has helped create great individual athletes, which has lead them to win major international titles.

The clubs current ground is Alexander Stadium, the stadium was renovated in 2000 where the track and centre green were improve, this was done to give the Club and events held the chance to use the latest facilitates to help enhance performance. There are several famous athletes, which are apart of Birchfield Harries which have won many major titles, such as Denis Lewis and Ashia Hanson..

Denise Lewis Denise Lawis in Action

Denise Lewis is one of Briton’s greatest female athlete and has won many titles in her time. She participated in her first event in 1989 and set British records in 1996 and 1997. Her major triumph was wining the goal in 2000 Sydney Olympics. Unfortunately due to injury in the 2004 Olympics Denise was unable to complete the events and pulled out of the competition.

Ashia Hanson started off her career as a long jumper, however in 1992 she changed to a triple jumper. Ashia is said to be Britain’s greatest ever-female jumper having set twenty British records already. Due to injury Ashia missed the 2004 Olympics, her goal now is to get back to training and win in the Olympic Games.
