Geography

The physical and human dimensions of geography are balanced in the geography courses at Newman, to provide students with a perspective on modern geography relevant to the modern world. Each area is given separate consideration, but the underlying theme is the close interaction between natural environments and human occupation and management. Models, concepts and issues are investigated on different scales from different parts of the globe and analysed using the systems and humanistic and behavioural approaches to modern geography. Students on the initial teacher training and joint honours courses are given the option to travel throughout the UK and overseas on fieldwork trips as a part of their course.
