Science/Biology


The Biology course is designed to provide a balanced perspective on both traditional and modem biology and approaches the subject through the study of cells, organisms and systems. You will study the important foundations of genetics and cell biology, plant and animal biology, ecology and contemporary issues in biology. In addition to providing you with an enjoyable and worthwhile experience in the study of biology, the course is designed to develop your scientific knowledge and attitudes and the professional skills necessary for you to become an effective science curriculum leader in a primary school.

Those students undertaking Science will also study a range of biology modules. In addition, you will study physics and chemistry modules that focus on Key Stage 3 Science and be given opportunities to gain sufficient expertise and experience to enable you to become an effective science curriculum leader in a primary school or a science teacher in a lower secondary school.
