Careers Appointments

Want to have a careers guidance appointment? You can book a 30 minute slot for in-depth guidance on many topics including:

  • Career Planning – Thinking about your future
  • What you can do with your degree
  • Job/Occupational Information
  • Skills reflection
  • Consequences if you change your course
  • Personal statement/Application checks for postgraduate courses and graduate jobs
  • Mock Interview practice
  • Postgraduate course information
  • Newman Volunteering accredited award

Come along on the day and sign up for an available appointment on the careers door on the following days and times:

Monday: 12pm - 2pm (specifically for final year students and postgraduate students for CV, Application Form and Personal Statement checks)

Tuesday: 12.30pm - 2.30pm

Wednesday: 11.30am - 1.30pm

Thursday: 12.30pm - 2.30pm

If you cannot make these times, appointment outside of these hours can be made, but priority is given to part-time students, distance learning students and graduates and those where reasonable adjustments need to be made. There will be a wait. These appointments can be made in person through Melissa Clarke in the careers hub, by e-mail or by telephone.

Due to other exciting events, workshops and unforeseen circumstances careers sessions will occasionally not run. If you are making a special journey in, check before you come.


Job and Placement Shop Appointments

Job and placement shop appointments are 20 minute information and advice sessions to help you secure jobs, placements and voluntary positions. We can help you with:

  • Finding a part time job
  • Searching for a work placement
  • Searching for voluntary work
  • CV or application checks
  • Quick interview tips
  • Information about international opportunities
  • Graduate job search and application checks
  • Support with accessing the vacancy database

Again come along and sign up for an available slot on the careers door on the following days and times:

Tuesday: 11.30pm and 1.30pm

Wednesday: 11.30pm and 1.30pm

Thursday: 11.30pm and 1.30pm

Evening and Weekend Appointments/Workshops are available for part time students, students who are on placements or cannot make an appointment during the day and graduates. These are available 4.30pm - 7.30pm in the evening and 10am-4pm at weekends on the following days:
