Living in Halls of Residence
For many students, living in Halls of Residence is an essential part of the University experience. It often marks students’ first experience of independence and allows for the development of lifelong friendships.

Newman has 200 single study fully furnished bedrooms in Halls on-campus. The standard bedrooms are single study rooms with hand basin and shared bathroom facilities. The en-suite rooms are single study bedrooms with hand basin and a private bathroom. Students are required to bring their own bedding and any kitchen utensils they require or they are able to purchase a bedding pack at £25.00 each from the Housekeeping Department, with £15.00 being refunded when the bedding pack is returned in good condition.

First year students are given priority in the allocation of rooms. We still have rooms available in Halls for September 2016. Standard bedrooms with a shared bathroom are available in halls of residence on-campus at a cost of £3900 for first year undergraduate students and £4290 for PGCE students for academic year 2016/17. There are a limited number of bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom, with priority given to students with a medical condition.  The cost is £5000 for first year undergraduate students and £5500 for PGCE students for academic year 2016/17. There are a small number of self-contained one bedroom flats available in halls with priority given to those with a medical condition. We try to balance the number of students from all years who live in and students are encouraged to apply even if they live locally, in order to fully appreciate the complete student experience.

Hall Fees 
Students occupying Halls of Residence are required to pay for their accommodation in three instalments, payable on specific dates at regular intervals throughout the academic year, in line with payments from Student Finance England.

Students are required to make arrangements to pay their Hall Fees prior to moving into Halls of Residence by setting up an online payment plan to be processed on the dates specified in the accommodation contract. Payment online of the accommodation deposit of £250.00 is required prior to arrival to secure the room.
