Informed by the research of Newman's academic team, the MA/MSc in Physical Education and Sports Studies combines developing a scientific and enquiring approach which leads to high-level research skills, with conducting original research and critically evaluating the research of others, alongside modules that are of practical relevance to a range of sports related careers.

This course provides the opportunity to understand the importance of sport and exercise to the well-being of individuals and society as a whole, and examine barriers to participation in sport and exercise. You will be able to utilise this knowledge to develop policies and strategies to engage a broad cross section of society and sport. Finally, you may decide to examine the teaching of sport and exercise at an advanced level and how surrounding factors influence it.
