Teaching takes place in modern rooms, laboratories, computer suites and lecture spaces equipped with the latest in educational technology, including interactive whiteboards and video access.

The University has a virtual learning environment which enables you to access course materials from anywhere in the world. Extensive provision of IT facilities ensures ample opportunity for personal use of computers. Individual subjects have their own specialist resources, such as the Sports Hall and Human Performance laboratory, rehearsal and performance spaces for Drama, and Psychology labs.


The University library is open every day during term-time and offers a substantial collection of almost 90,000 books and over 500 periodicals, plus access to many more resources through membership of academic databases. Students also have access to other university libraries in Birmingham.

The large and spacious library, with its impressive views of Bartley Green reservoir, has a variety of formal and informal study spaces including areas for both private and group study. The library is situated in the new reception building which forms part of the recent £20m development of the campus. The building is also home to two new lecture theatres and a range of teaching spaces as well as the atrium café which serves Starbucks coffees and a variety of hot and cold snacks.

Image of performance labThe Sports Centre offers a wide range of facilities for students including a gym and squash courts. The facilities currently include a new sports performance labs, an improved fitness suite to encompass weights, performance and cardio, and a reception area equipped with Wi-Fi.

The Sanctuary Cafe and the Atrium Cafe offer excellent hot and cold food all day.  The Chapel and multi-faith prayer room allow time and space for private worship and reflection.
