Why choose Newman?
Newman University has an excellent reputation for the quality of its teaching and degree courses, and the supportive learning environment provided by its staff and facilities.
A student-centred university
The beauty of Newman is that we are a small institution with students at the heart of everything we do. The quality of our teaching has been recognised by The Sunday Times University Guide 2013 in which Newman was ranked 9th in the UK for teaching excellence. We offer high levels of personal attention and academic support and our courses are academically challenging and rewarding. You will have a tutor assigned to review your progress and give advice where needed and our International Co-ordinator makes sure that your time with us is as comfortable and productive as possible. If English is not your first language there are classes you can take in each level of your course to help with your language skills too.
A friendly, multicultural campus
On-site accommodation in Newman’s halls of residence is available to you to help you settle in comfortably into university life with all the amenities you need close to hand. Situated at the heart of university life, Newman’s halls of residence have over 200 single study bedrooms. You can expect a fully furnished room and the wireless network allows you to surf the net or access course materials through the intranet from the comfort of your room. You will be part of a safe, friendly, multicultural environment with access to excellent facilities, as well as being conveniently close to your classes.
Newman’s academic quality is underpinned by our recent £20m investment in an iconic library and entrance building, equipped with a wide range of teaching and learning facilities, as a well as new state-of-the-art sports facilities. The library is spread over three floors and offers a contemporary learning environment with superb views of Bartley Reservoir and the Worcestershire countryside beyond.
Building up your skills and experience in the real world
Newman is also distinctive in embedding a work placement module into all its degree programmes. This ensures you gain the opportunity to enhance the skills you are developing on your course within a workplace setting, while building upon your experience so that you are well-equipped to embark on a successful career after graduation.
