using other libraries

All students and staff have varying degrees of access to other libraries and collections in the local area and nationwide.

  • SCONUL Access is a reciprocal service supported by most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. It grants borrowing privileges to many types of library users working or studying at participating higher education libraries in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Newman allows access from borrowers in all three SCONUL access bands, this allows the following types of Newman students to borrow from other libraries:

Band A: Academic staff and postgraduate research students
Band B: Part-time, distance learning and placement students (on placements of 6 weeks or more)
Band C: Full-time postgraduates

Please note that not all libraries allow borrowers from all bands, so you must check the SCONUL website before your visit to see if you are entitled to join your chosen library.

For full information about SCONUL Access please visit the link above. If you would like to join the scheme please ask a member of library staff at the issue desk.

Please click on the following link for the SCONUL Access application form. Please return the completed form to a member of library staff at the issue desk.

If you would like to search the online catalogues of other libraries, use the Library catalogues link on the Electronic Resources page and select the library name.
