| using other libraries |
All students and staff have varying degrees of access to other libraries and collections in the local area and nationwide.
- SCONUL Access is a reciprocal service supported by most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. It grants borrowing privileges to many types of library users working or studying at participating higher education libraries in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Newman allows access from borrowers in all four SCONUL access bands, this allows the following types of Newman students to borrow from other libraries, or use them for reference only in the case of Band R:
Band A: Staff and postgraduate
research students - Borrowing access
Band B: Part-time, distance learning and placement students (on placements
of 6 weeks or more) - Borrowing access
Band C: Full-time postgraduates - Borrowing access
Band R: Full-time undergraduates - Reference only access
Please note that not all libraries allow borrowers from all bands, so you must check the SCONUL website before your visit to see if you are entitled to join your chosen library.
If you would like to join the scheme you need to complete an online application on the following web page: SCONUL Access Joining Form. When you have completed the form, you will be contacted by email about your application.
If you would like to search the online catalogues of other libraries, use the Library catalogues link on the Electronic Resources page and select the library name.
