International Centenary Conference
On 4th and 5th July 2014, Newman University, in collaboration with Birmingham City Council, hosted a two day international conference to commemorate the centenary of Joseph Chamberlain’s death on 2nd July 1914. The conference assessed the career of Joseph Chamberlain, mayor of Birmingham, Colonial Secretary and leader of the Liberal Unionist Party and Tariff Reform Association.
The conference featured a host of expert academic speakers (including Professor Peter Marsh), heritage specialists, research students and politicians, making it a truly diverse and interesting two days.
