The Big Alumni Reunion

The Big Alumni Reunion

Saturday 11th August (14:00pm onwards)

50 years of graduates, one big reunion weekend. Come and join us for this one-off celebration on Saturday 11th August 2018, as we celebrate Newman's 50th anniversary. Share memories, reminisce and see how the campus has changed and developed. It’s a great opportunity to come back to Newman and the city of Birmingham. There’s even a chance to stay in the halls of residence one more time!

Tickets for the Big Alumni Reunion can be purchased from our E-Store here

Please note that we intend to publish a list of those who will be in attendance at the event, so that alumni are able to see if their former class friends have already booked. If you do not wish for your name, course and graduation year to appear on this list, please let us know at time of booking, or alternatively email alumni@newman.ac.uk to request your name be removed from this list.

Schedule

The reunion will be officially opened by Vice Chancellor Scott Davison at 2pm, as he presents a welcome talk to Alumni, looking back at Newman’s first 50 years and letting you know ways in which you can support the next generation of Newman students.

Following on from the welcome talk there will be a welcome reception held in the St Chad’s atrium at 3pm, where you will be able to re-connect with class friends and members of staff.

From 4pm there will be an afternoon of outdoor performances (weather permitting!) from alumni singers and bands in the Ryland Quad, ending with a big reunion disco into the early hours in the Senses Bar.

There will also be an opportunity throughout the day to have a campus tour of the Newman campus, and to view the 50th anniversary heritage exhibition.

Further details will be announced in the coming months on the Alumni website.

Food & Drink

Each ticket includes a meal and dessert voucher. Our Senses Bar will also be open for those who are feeling nostalgic and want to re-live their student days!

Overnight Accommodation & Breakfast

We will be providing accommodation for those who wish to stay on-site overnight. There are  two accommodation options. The first is our brand new state of the art halls – with en-suite bathrooms and small double beds. The second option is your chance to stay in the original Newman halls of residence and re-live the best years of your life for one night only.

For those who wish to share a room you are welcome to pay for a couple’s ticket. The beds in our new halls of residence are a small double, so it will be cosy but cost-saving!

All accommodation tickets include breakfast on Sunday morning in the Sanctuary café.

Rooms are offered on a first come first serve basis. For those buying an individual accommodation ticket we will do our best to match your preferred accommodation choice, but building work may restrict what halls of residence are available in August 2017.
