Newman Super 7’s Tournament

As part of this year’s Fresher’s Week and to mark the opening of our brand new 3G pitch, Newman University’s Sports Centre is hosting Newman Super 7’s!

Activities:

  • Netball shooting challenge – see how many points you can score as a team with 7 shots each
  • Touch rugby - 7 minutes to decide the winner in this game
  • Football skills – Think you can complete the Crossbar Challenge or Beat the keeper?
  • Ultimate Frisbee – See how many points can you score in just 7 minutes
  • Try Golf – Test your golf skills and see who can get closest to the hole
  • Table Tennis - Record the longest rally possible over 7 minutes
  • Activity X - A surprise activity to be announced on the day!

How do I join?

 

If you would like to take part in Newman Super 7’s tournament you will need a squad of between 7-10 players, including at least 2 females.

 

You can sign up prior to the event by visiting the Sports Centre on campus or emailing Dom Ridgers, Student Sport Co-ordinator: D.Ridgers@newman.ac.uk with the names of those in your team along with your team name.

 

On the day you must register between 12:30pm-12:45pm and be ready to start at 1pm!

 

What can I win?

 

If your team are crowned winners of Newman Super 7’s you will each receive a Polar Loop Activity Tracker, worth over £70!

 

There will be other great freebies on offer throughout the day.

 

What else do I need to know?

 

You will need to wear appropriate footwear and clothing – trainers are essential.

 

Teams will be in a league table and drawn at random to play against each other. Your team will have one attempt at an activity with each lasting 7 minutes. Score as many points as possible for your team to secure top spot on the leader board.

 

You will have 5 minutes to move on to the next activity.

 

Teams consist of 7 players – if you have a squad of more than 7 players you must decide who is taking part in which activity before the activity begins.
