Website Accessibility
Newman University has created an easy to use, accessible website created using valid XHTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to improve the accessibility of the document and navigation. This conforms to World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.
Browser Compatibility
This website is compatible with the latest versions of the following web browsers:
- Internet Explorer
- Mozilla Firefox
- Safari
- Opera
- Chrome
Stylesheets
With the website being written in Cascading Style Sheets, users can benefit by customising these pages to suit their own needs using their own styles. The site text and background colours can all be overridden with your own preferences, catering for your needs. This is usually possible in the browser option or accessibility settings but please consult your software help option for any information regarding this.
Normally, older browsers cannot interpret the site page formatting and layout language of Cascading Style Sheets so this is unfortunately negated but the information is still readable in an orderly manner just the same.
Relative font sizes
This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
- In Internet Explorer your font size can be increased by choosing view then text size from the main menu then selecting the size of your choice.
- In Mozilla Firefox press Ctrl + to increase font size and Ctrl - to decrease the font size.
External Applications
Whilst the majority of today's Internet connected computers may already have these plug-ins, not all do or some may not be the latest manufacturer's versions. In downloading the latest versions, which are free, users will be able to take advantage of latest enhancements for file reduction and accessibility issues, like speech-accessible content in the latest Macromedia Flash player.
Please follow the links below to the manufactures' homepages of external browser plug-ins that are currently used in the Newman University web site.
If you have any feedback about these accessibility features or would like to suggest improvements then please use our feedback page to contact us.
