Flo Pearce

Biography

Flo completed both their undergraduate degree and MSc in Applied Psychology at University of Worcester, going on to achieve their PhD at University of Leicester. Flo has previously worked within the University of Worcester, Open University and British Psychological Society’s Division of Academics, Researchers and Teachers in Psychology. They moved to Newman as a visiting Lecturer in 2007 and received a permanent role within the Psychology subject area in 2009. They now hold Chartered Psychologist and Associate Teaching Fellowship status.

Profile

Research Interests
Flo has published in the areas of employability and teaching. Their current interests include a focus on the representation and experiences of minority groups. They are a PhD advisor and frequently participate in Student Staff Partnership Projects.

Teaching
Flo’s teaching responsibilities include coordination of the Psychology dissertation module suite, and subject lead for ethics and work-experience modules. They also lead on modules focused on principles and skills in enquiry and research and critical psychology. Flo is currently the Psychology subject areas employability coordinator and promotes an understanding of the nature and development of employability within the subject area.

Administrative Responsibilities
Flo has acted as vice-chair of the mitigating circumstances committee since 2021, having taken an active role in the committee for several years. They also coordinate the personal tutoring process within the psychology subject area, and contribute to a number of other university wide procedures and committees.
