Alexander completed his BSC (Hons), MSC and PhD all in Psychology, all at Lancaster University. Alexander joined Newman University as a Lecturer in Psychology in 2013. Alexander has previously worked as a Research Information Officer for Northamptonshire County Council, as an Associate Lecturer and Research Associate for Lancaster University, and as a Consultant for Resource Development International.
Alexander's interests centre upon the philosophy of science, notions of Special Educational Needs, inclusive education, fairness and equality, political rhetoric, and online behaviours. These interests were explored in Alexander's PhD research on Special Educational Needs reform, and in his Post-doctoral research.
Alexander currently teaches on the Global Perspectives and Contexts in Psychology module (level 4), The Individual in Society (level 5), and Psychology in Question (level 6). Alexander supervises dissertation students, at both undergraduate and MSc level. He has also contributed to teaching on Research Design and Analysis 2 (level 2).
Membership of Professional Organisations
Alexander is a Member of the British Psychological Society, including membership of the Qualitative methods in Psychology Section and the History and Philosophy of Psychology Section.
