Biography

Education: BA (Hons) English and Politics University of York 1983, MPhil Playwriting Studies University of Birmingham 1998, PhD Reading University submission September 2010.

Employment: Various Birmingham secondary schools, South Birmingham College of FE, Newman University College since 1997
 

Research Interests

  • Lacan’s ‘Graph of desire’ and understanding the psycho-semiotic implications of using Lacan’s registers in performance. 
  • Applying insights from Lacan’s graph to Edward Bond’s new dramaturgy and recent plays.
  • Positioning Trauma Theory in relation to the Graph of Desire and contemporary theatre.
  • Trauma Theory and Aesthetics.
