
How to Apply for Accommodation
Application process
- Rooms currently available subject to capacity
- Forms are available from 28 February 2025 onwards for applicants who have accepted an offer of a place, and made Birmingham Newman their firm choice and guaranteed for applications received before 31 July 2025.
- As a firm applicant, you will automatically receive an email with further information and the link to the application form (This should be received within 10 working days of your place becoming firm) after the launch date in February
- You’ll need to complete the application form and return this electronically
- You should indicate on the form your preferences and any access requirements
- You’ll be advised that your application has been received and the type of accommodation provisionally reserved, pending your place on the course being achieved
- Accommodation is allocated on a receipt of application basis
- From September, if your place on the course has been achieved and you have no outstanding conditions, you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail and details about actions you need to take and the moving in process
- You’ll need to pay your deposit once you have received an accommodation confirmation. In 2025 this will be £250
- You will be required to complete a Licence to Occupy and set up a payment plan by the end of August
- If you’re offered a room and choose not to take it, you should inform the Accommodation Team

A: New entrants are prioritised to ensure they have the support they need in their first year. Returning students who meet the guarantee group criteria will also receive priority.
A: New students who apply for accommodation by 31 July 2025 are guaranteed a room in University-managed accommodation.
A: While not guaranteed, we aim to retain some rooms for Clearing students. Details will be available closer to Clearing.
A: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer students accommodation in halls of residence on campus throughout their student journey. Typically, year 1 (after foundation year), year 2, year 3, year 4 and postgraduate students are provided useful information about finding accommodation off-campus with private providers and can liaise with the accommodation team for advice and further details.
