Biography
Emily is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 25 years of clinical and academic experience in the UK, having qualified in 1999. Emily holds a Diploma of Higher Education in Nursing (Mental Health), and a Bachelor of Science in Mental Health Studies with Specialist Training and Certificates for working with Adults and Young People experiencing eating disorders.
Her professional clinical roles have included working as a Specialist Practitioner in Eating Disorders and Personality Difficulties services (in-patient and Community across the lifespan NHS & Private), Clinical Team Leader Roles in Crisis resolution and home treatment teams, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Older & Acute Adult Mental health services, Community Mental Health Teams and Primary Care GP liaison. Some of these roles also led to Management and Leadership positions.
Emily has an interest in Counselling and Psychotherapy and has completed introductory courses in theses areas.
A passion for teaching led her to academia, Emily joined us from Staffordshire University in August 2024 where she had worked as a lecturer for 2 and a half years. Her responsibilities were module lead for the Year 1 Mental Health Nursing in Practice Modules; she was also recruitment lead for Mental Health.
Emily is currently a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing while pursuing a PgCert from Birmingham Newman University. Emily is module lead for both the Safety and Quality in Healthcare and Complex Care in Mental Health Nursing. Emily has an interest in publishing, particularly in Student & staff Well-being when working in areas of high acuity.
