Birmingham Newman University runs a thriving and innovative Foundation Year which prepares students to study for a wide range of subjects across the university. There are two entry points (September and January) and so the course runs from September to July each year.

The University is looking for x2 Graduate Teaching Assistants on a Fixed Term basis until July 2028. The post of Graduate Teaching Assistant provides an opportunity for a teaching-focused graduate to work with an innovative, multi-disciplinary team, and to gain valuable experience and professional development. The postholder will undertake a range of duties related to delivering Foundation Year programmes across the university with controlled supervision. This includes delivering teaching across the Foundation Year programmes using pre-prepared material, completing supervised tutorial and assessment activities and providing supported input into the ongoing development and design of the curriculum. The postholder will be expected to fully engage in formal and informal professional development activities throughout the traineeship.

Applicants must possess a first degree (with a classification of upper second or above) in the Humanities or Social Sciences or should expect to graduate with suitable qualifications in the summer of 2025. Experience of teaching/coaching/mentoring roles is an advantage.
