Thesis title: Can Applied Theatre practices affect the social wellbeing of older people in residential care homes in Wales?
Supervisors: Peter Childs and Persephone Sextou
This thesis explores the potential of applied theatre practises as a tool to provide creative opportunities and therefore impact the social wellbeing of residents in care homes in Wales. It examines how lack of social wellbeing can have detrimental implications including those associated with social isolation and loneliness. I also provide consideration of why creativity is needed in this context and the social and political implications of the aging population and the care system.
