Coming to Newman via a ‘Top-Up’ route?

Starting a ‘top-up’ degree brings a year of excitement and challenge.  At Newman University, we will do our best to assist you in reaching your full potential as you complete your degree with us. HEADsup+ is one of the ways we aim to achieve this.

It is expected that new students entering straight into level six after completing their level five qualification or relevant experience elsewhere engage in HEADsup+. The course has been specifically designed to support development, confidence and success within the University community, with engagement in the course recorded on official University transcripts.

During HEADsup+ you will meet various teaching and support staff, other new undergraduate students along with current students helping out over the course. You will consider what academic reading, writing and critical thinking means for success in the final year as well as completing some subject specific activities to get you going in the right direction.

It takes place between September 6th and 21st 2018 and is organised so that students are on campus for one day a week during this time but expected to complete online activities most days, accessed via our Virtual Learning Environment, Moodle. With a requirement of around 30 hours of study per week, we anticipate that you will feel prepared to take on the challenges of level 6 study.

Students who are expected to take part will be contacted via email with more details however, if you do have any questions, please contact our admissions department ( or Leoarna Mathias, the programme co-ordinator using the details below.
