Who can attend Graduation?

Any student who has:

  • Successfully completed all elements of their programme of study by the Programme Assessment Boards in July (this is subject to confirmation and all graduands will be informed in writing of their eligibility to attend following the Programme Assessment Boards).
  • Successfully passed all their outstanding Resits (including any outstanding QTS skills tests) at the first available opportunity in August  (this is subject to confirmation and all graduands will be informed in writing of their eligibility to attend following the relevant Resit Assessment Board).
  • Successfully passed all their outstanding Resits (including any outstanding QTS skills tests) from the last academic year. All graduands will have received confirmation in writing and a copy of their final academic transcript during the current academic year.
  • Chosen to defer their Graduation from last year to this year’s Ceremonies. This will have been confirmed in writing.

Who can’t attend Graduation?

Any student who has:

  • Not successfully completed all elements of their programme of study by the Resit Programme Assessment Boards in August/September. Once you have successfully passed your outstanding Resit element(s) you will receive a copy of your final academic transcript and be entered for next year’s Graduation Ceremonies.
  • Chosen to accept the lesser award, after the Resit Programme Assessment Boards in August/September.
  • An outstanding academic debt (fees) with Newman, which is not resolved by the confirmation deadline.  If you are concerned, please contact Finance Office by e-mailing finance@newman.ac.uk.
  • Chosen to defer their graduation until next year. If you wish to defer your Graduation you must indicate this in the Graduation Confirmation process and send a formal request in writing, detailing the grounds for your request (addressed to the Head of Assessment & Graduation)

 

In the case of an emergency or force majeure, events associated with the student lifecycle i.e. graduation ceremonies may need to be cancelled.
