Newman University, Birmingham has achieved endorsement for its BA (Hons) Sport Management degree with The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

BA (Hons) Sport Management is an exciting new degree launching in September 2022 that joins the well-established portfolio of Sport courses currently delivered at Newman University. This achievement follows on from the previous CIMSPA endorsement for BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching.

The ambition of CIMSPA and the Sport and Psychical Activity Professional Development Board is to create a recognised and respected profession everyone wants to be a part of. The degree endorsement is recognised across the sector, and students completing the degree will leave with certification that confirms they have met the Professional Standards of Aspiring Manager for Exercise and Fitness Management and Aspiring Manager for Sport Development.

Richard Millard, Vice Chair of the Sport and Physical Activity Professional Development Board at CIMSPA commented “We congratulate Newman University in achieving CIMPSA endorsement for BA (Hons) Sport Management . We are delighted to see the employer developed Professional Standards have been included enabling the development of work ready graduates”.

Dr Stefan Lawrence, programme leader for both the BA (Hons) Sport Management and BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching degrees commented “I’m delighted to announce our BA (Hons) Sport Management undergraduate degree programme has today gained full endorsement from CIMSPA. This is the second programme to gain endorsement after BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching, which shows our continued commitment to providing students with a first-class higher education experience, with a personal touch.

Newman University is an existing education partner of CIMSPA, and it is the ambition of the Sport and Health team to work towards endorsements for each of its Sport degrees over the next few years.
