Birmingham Newman University Celebrates Wins at the 2025 WhatUni Student Choice Awards
After being shortlisted for a record number of categories, Birmingham Newman University has picked up two Silver Awards at the WhatUni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) — in the categories of ‘Lecturers and Teaching Quality‘ and ‘Student Support’.
These awards were announced at a ceremony held in London yesterday (21 May). Birmingham Newman was recognised in categories that reflect our students’ academic experience and the support they receive throughout their journey with us.

Professor Jackie Dunne, Vice-Chancellor of Birmingham Newman University celebrated this remarkable achievement:
“We are thrilled to have won Silver for both ‘Lecturers and Teaching Quality’ and ‘Student Support’. It is a tremendous honour for our university to be recognised in this way by our students, and it highlights our commitment to providing high-quality teaching and a truly supportive learning environment.
“Thank you to all the students who shared their experiences through reviews, and to everyone across our university community who works tirelessly to support and enrich the lives of our students. This recognition is a testament to our collective efforts to deliver an excellent education and ensure our graduates are well-prepared for life beyond university”.

In total, Birmingham Newman University was shortlisted in six categories. Alongside our Silver Awards, we also ranked nationally:
- 6th in the UK for University of the Year
- 4th for Careers Support
- 7th for Best Students’ Union
- 9th for Best Facilities
The WhatUni Student Choice Awards are the largest student-voted university awards in the UK, based entirely on tens of thousands of verified student reviews collected nationally. Being recognised in this way directly by students is a profound endorsement of Birmingham Newman University’s shared commitment to excellence and community.
