Newman University’s Course Leader and Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, Dr Jinning Hong has recently passed the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) to qualify as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

Dr Hong took the three-hour Strategic Case Study exam in the summer of this year and yesterday found out that she had passed first time.

The exam assessed three areas of the strategic levels of the CIMA syllabus, including strategic management, risk management, and financial strategy.  The exam was the final exam with CIMA, meaning Dr Hong is now CGMA qualified with CIMA.

The Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation distinguishes professionals who have advanced proficiency in finance, operations, strategy and management.  It is underpinned by extensive global research to maintain the highest relevance with employers, and develop competencies most in demand.

By acquiring this qualification, it provides further confirmation that the curriculum at Newman and standard of practice in learning and teaching are set at the highest standard in accordance with the internationally recognised professional level.  This will be a significant benefit to Newman University students.
