Newman Enterprise & Entrepreneurship has announced the date for this year’s Newman Enterprise Festival 2018 as the 20th November from 10am till 3pm in St Chads Atrium. This is the fifth year that the event is being held.

The festival will bring together organisations from across Birmingham and include Newman’s own entrepreneurs and others from the Newman University community to inspire and educate on all things enterprise.

The festival will allow attendees to speak with exhibitors to gain tips and advice on how they can bring their own ideas to life and begin to build their own business as well as gain advice on writing a great CV.

Students at the University can also speak with Daniella Genas, founder of Genas Enterprise Consultants which aims to empower entrepreneurs to Think Big, Take Action and Keep Pushing. Daniella’s business offers interactive programs; coaching and mentoring packages; and consultancy services to allow individuals to grow and take their own business ideas to the next stage.

As well as meeting Daniella, students can attend briefing sessions at 12:15pm or 13:15pm to find out how they can get started with enterprise and hear from Newman students who have already taken advantage of the enterprise support at the University and started their own enterprise.

“We are delighted to be holding our enterprise festival for the fifth year running. We look forward to welcoming back some recent Newman graduates who have created their own businesses, along with the other organisations taking part on the day” said Kevin Griffiths, Enterprise and Employer Engagement Manager at Newman University. “We hope that students will find inspiration at the event and see how enterprise can work for them”.

Students can also be in with the chance of winning £50 by entering the ‘drinks mat’ challenge which requires students to share their ideas on what they would do to improve your world.

Students who have previously used the support of Enterprise at Newman have found themselves to develop a number of skills to allow them to grow their own ideas and be successful in business. The Higher Level Skills Match (HLSM) team will also be hand for students to speak with about finding real world experience through work placements.

Work placements are something which Newman University sees a huge benefit in; they allow students to gain relevant business experience and in turn improve their employability prospects. After exhibiting at Newman previously, the National Citizen Service hired 21 Newman students to work on their 2018 summer programme so there are lots of opportunities for students to take advantage of.

The event will take place in the Atrium of the University between 10am-3pm.
