Newman Sport Degree Endorsed by CIMSPA

Newman University, Birmingham has achieved endorsement for its BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching degree with The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

The ambition of CIMSPA and the Sport and Psychical Activity Sector Professional Development Board is to create a recognised and respected profession everyone wants to be a part of. The BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching degree endorsement is recognised across the sector, and the course has been commended against two industry standards. Students completing the degree will officially meet the requirements of  ‘Aspiring Manager’ (Exercise and Fitness specialist area and Sport Development Manager) and ‘Working in a Community Environment.’

Richard Millard, Vice Chair of the Sport and Psychical Activity Sector Professional Development Board at CIMSPA commented “We congratulate Newman University in achieving CIMPA endorsement BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching. We are delighted to see the employer developed Professional Standards have been included enabling the development of work ready graduates.”

Dr Stefan Lawrence, programme leader for the BA (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching degree commented “We’re delighted to gain endorsement for this programme, which clearly evidences our commitment to offering an excellent experience for students and a high-quality curriculum that readies our graduates for quality employment in and across the sports industry. We look forward to endorsing more of our portfolio of sport degrees very soon.”

Newman University is an existing education partner of CIMSPA, and it is the ambition of the Sport and Health team to work towards endorsements for each of its Sport degrees over the next few years.
