Head of Business Programmes at Newman University, Dr Taimur Sharif has achieved Certified Business and Management Educator (CMBE) status from the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS).

The CMBE gives business and management educators a recognised professional designation and a framework for continuous professional development. The scheme supports educators to further develop their teaching practice and helps to advance the quality of business and management education in higher education.

The CMBE status also provides evidence for the Teaching Excellence Framework, which Newman University already holds the silver award for its high quality teaching and learning outcomes for students.

The CMBE provides a CPD framework to support the development and promotion of teaching faculty, and the advancement of the quality of teaching within the institution and helps to meet accreditation standards, which require a systematic approach to the continuous professional development of the Faculty.

Taimur began working at Newman University earlier this year after proven success at previous institutions in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Muscat where his leadership in promoting entrepreneurship education in the regional level was recognised by the UAE Prime Minister’s Office.

Taimur now works at Newman University, Birmingham and looks after the Business programmes at the University. Taimur comments “It’s an absolute pleasure to achieve the CMBE status from CABS and be a part of the management and business educators’ community in the UK. I’m looking forward to add further professionalism and values in learning and teaching activities at Newman University and support development of the Business programmes on a superior level.”
