At the start of the academic year students at Newman University, Birmingham voted for their charity of the year. For 2019/20 the charity was announced as the Geoff Horsfield Foundation.

The charity aims to provide quality, safe accommodation for vulnerable adults and to help other people within the community wherever possible.

Each year the University looks to gain student feedback through its Internal Student Survey (ISS) and this year for every completed entry, the University decided to donate 50p to the Foundation, raising a total of £300.

A group of Newman students volunteer their time on a Monday afternoon to do work for the Geoff Horsfield Foundation, which helped build the relationship between the Foundation and Newman University. Two Newman students, Emily Ashmore and Joshua Murphy, awarded Geoff with the £300 donation when he visited the campus yesterday, 2nd March. The next big event the students are planning to raise money for the Foundation is the charity sleep out at the Botanical Gardens on 28th March.
