Ian Tinley

Biography

Ian started his teaching career in primary schools in Birmingham and Solihull. He became a Leading Teacher of Mathematics in Birmingham Authority before moving to higher education sector within School of Education at University of Wolverhampton. Ian moved to University of Warwick in 2003 where he led primary mathematics post and undergraduate ITE courses. During this time Ian also worked with Primary National Strategies undertaking research and development. He led West Midlands Primary Teach First whilst at University of Warwick from 2012-2013 before moving to Newman in 2013 to join the primary mathematics team.

Ian is currently undertaking Masters study. His research interests lie in the transition from mental to written calculations although lately he is exploring retention rates of males within primary ITE.
