Library

Open daily from 7:30am–12am, our library overlooks Bartley Reservoir and offers three floors of study space, 100,000+ books, loanable laptops, computers, and study pods.

24-hour IT suite

Need to work late? Our IT suite is always open, with plenty of informal study areas across campus too.

Food & drink

Atrium Café

Grab a Starbucks coffee, toastie, or sweet treat near reception in the St Chad building.

Bistro 32

Our main cafeteria in the Barberi building serves hot meals, salads, handmade sandwiches, and Starbucks drinks. Follow @Bistro32_Newman on Instagram & TikTok for daily specials.

Senses Lounge

Our on-campus student bar features a pool table, arcade games, and a garden area. It hosts live music, comedy nights, and student events—and can be booked for private functions. Follow @Senses_Lounge for updates.

Social life

Senses Lounge is also the heart of Birmingham Newman Students’ Union events – from live bands and themed nights to relaxed hangouts. Whether you’re up for a game of pool or just want to chill with friends, it’s your go-to social space.

Sports & Fitness

Sports Centre

Open seven days a week with discounted student membership. Facilities include a Fitness Suite, Sports Performance Suite, squash courts, and more.

Chaplaincy & Wellbeing

Chaplaincy

Open to all students, the Chaplaincy offers weekly activities like Soup Kitchen and mindful colouring. A multi-faith prayer room with wudu facilities is also available.
