All students at Newman University are eligible to apply for a room in halls of residence on site. Our halls are not just for first years; there is always a mix of year groups in halls of residence. Priority is given to first year and final year students where possible. Students are encouraged to apply, even if they live locally in order to fully appreciate the complete student experience.

Application Process

  • Firm Choice Guarantee: Accommodation in Halls of Residence is guaranteed for all offer-holders once they have selected Newman as their firm choice
  • Forms are available from April onwards for applicants who have accepted an offer of a place, and made Newman their firm choice
  • As a firm applicant, you will receive an email with further information and the link to the application form (This should be received within 10 working days of your place becoming firm)
  • You’ll need to complete the application form and return this electronically
  • You should indicate on the form your preferences and any access requirements
  • You’ll be advised that your application has been received and the type of accommodation provisionally reserved, pending your place on the course being achieved
  • The Firm Choice Guarantee does not mean that you will definitely be allocated your first choice of accommodation type, you may be offered an alternative and added to the waiting list
  • From June, if your place on the course has been achieved and you have no outstanding conditions, you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail and details about actions you need to take and the moving in process
  • You’ll need to pay your deposit once you have received an accommodation confirmation. In 2023 this will be £250
  • You will be required to complete a Licence to Occupy and set up a payment plan by the end of August
  • If you’re offered a room and choose not to take it, you should inform the Accommodation Team
