Melanie West

Dr Melanie West is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Programme Lead for Clinical Applications of Psychology. Mel has teaching interests in health psychology, research methods, cognitive psychology and applied psychology. Mel teaches on both the MSc and undergraduate Psychology Programmes, and supervises undergraduate and MSc dissertations.

Florbela Soares Teixeira

Florbela Soares Teixeira

Dr Florbela Soares Teixeira is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and currently leads two of the overall seven modules.

Dr Kate McGarry is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and module leader for one taught module on this course. Kate’s main research areas are mother-infant interactions within emotional based disorders, social processing and theory of mind.

Dr Gurkiran Birdi is a lecturer in Psychology and module leader for one taught module on this course.

All modules on this course are based solely online with no traditional formal teaching sessions delivered.

One module is taught at a time and the course starts with PYM701 which is research methods (students are required to pass this module in order to go on to the dissertation).

The second module follows and is typically PYM702 which is adult mental health.

The third and final module for the first year follows on from this and is typically PMY703 which is Issues in Psychotherapy.
