We are a single campus university located in the quiet residential area of Bartley Green, only a few miles from Birmingham City Centre, which creates a tranquil and focused learning environment. The campus overlooks Bartley reservoir and the Worcestershire countryside beyond and its location makes it convenient for access to both the M5 and M42 motorways. We are also located on several major bus routes.

Please familiarise yourself with the campus map below, a helpful guide to finding your way around the Newman University campus. Click on the image for an enlarged view.

Watch History student Charlotte, as she takes a tour of our campus, including accommodation, our sports centre and student bar:

We have a dedicated student car park off Genners Lane. You will need to collect a Student Parking Permit from the Security Lodge to park there. The Security Lodge can be found through the door to the right of the Lower St Chad’s Atrium entrance.

As part of our initiative to be a greener campus, we encourage you to travel to Newman by public transport wherever possible. Bing maps, Google maps, and the Network West Midlands website can all be used to help you plan your journey to campus.

Find more details of specific routes on our website.

The first two letters of a room number indicate the building the room is located in. The room numbers follow, with the first indicating the floor level the room is found on, and the final number being the specific room number.

For example, ST207, can be found in the Sturge Building on the second floor, and is room number 7.

We would like to take this opportunity at the start of year to briefly remind you about Fire Safety.  The most important things to remember are:

  • If you discover a fire, activate the alarm straight away, and contact security, if you cannot contact security please call the Fire Service, they will need the exact location of the fire. Please do not attempt to extinguish the fire yourselves, as soon as alarm is activated, please begin your escape.
  • If the alarm sounds in the building, you are in you must evacuate the building immediately. You can assist us in closing doors of classrooms as you leave, but only if it is safe to do so.  Please help others if they are confused or struggling to exit.
  • The assembly points are on the car parks, please keep the main drives free to allow emergency vehicles to get through.  Do not re-enter the building until you are told it is safe to do so.

In addition to the above please report anything that you are suspicious of, we will look into it.  Examples of things you may wish to report: odd smells near electrics or sinks, possible smoke from bins or cupboards, excessive heat appliances. Please also let us know about build ups of waste or blocked access routes.  Fire Safety works best when everyone is involved.

Please take the opportunity to have a look at the linked PowerPoint, it will only take a few minutes to go through, but it contains some other useful information about the university campus in regard to Security, Safety, Energy, and Fire:
