Student Recruitment and Outreach

At Birmingham Newman University, our Student Recruitment and Outreach team is dedicated to raising awareness and enhancing students’ understanding of Higher Education and the opportunities it can offer.

We provide a free service to schools, colleges, and related institutions – supporting teachers, careers advisers, parents, carers, and students as they navigate the transition into university life.

As a university committed to widening participation, we offer a range of presentations and workshops designed to introduce learners to the world of Higher Education and help them make informed choices about their future.

Presentations & workshops

Our presentations & workshops cover:

  • Introduction to Higher Education & Student Life
  • Researching University and courses
  • Student Finance
  • How to write an effective Personal Statement
  • Subject specific academic-led sessions
  • Personal Statement one-to-one checking

The presentations have a duration of 20 minutes, specially matched to year groups.

We are also open to combinations of the above activities, as well as attending your Careers Fayres and events.

Bespoke campus programmes

Our Outreach Team can design tailored campus programmes to suit the needs of your learners. These can include:

  • Inspiring talks from our academic and student support teams
  • Interactive workshops on university life and study skills
  • Engaging taster sessions in subject areas of interest

These experiences help students build confidence and gain a clearer understanding of Higher Education pathways.
