Information on academic dress, how to order, pay & collect your academic dress and photography.

Academic dress must be worn by all graduands receiving an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.  Take a look at examples of the Birmingham Newman University academic dress.

Who can attend Graduation?

Any student who has:

• Successfully completed all elements of their programme and been had their award ratified by an assessment board before 5th September 2025.
• Chosen to defer their Graduation from last year to this year’s Ceremonies. This will have been confirmed in writing.

Who can’t attend Graduation?

Any student who has:

• Any student who has not completed all elements of their course and had an award ratified before 5th September 2025.
• Chosen to accept the lesser award, after the Resit Programme Assessment Boards in August/September.
• An outstanding academic debt (fees) with Birmingham Newman University, which is not resolved by the confirmation deadline. If you are concerned, please contact Finance Office by e-mailing finance@newman.ac.uk.
• Chosen to defer their graduation until next year. If you wish to defer your Graduation you must indicate this in the Graduation Confirmation process and send a formal request in writing, detailing the grounds for your request (addressed to the Head of Assessment & Graduation)
