Visa compliance and engagement
Key responsibilities during your studies
-
As your Student Visa sponsor we are required to hold certain information about you such as copies of your immigration documents and contact details and, as a condition of your visa, you need to keep us updated if there are any changes to your circumstances.
If Home Office rules are breached, this can have an impact on your immigration history and may prevent you from entering the UK at a future date. Further information on Student Visa conditions and our sponsorship duties can be found on the UKCISA website.
-
You must attend and engage with your course; it is a condition of your student visa. Please refer to the Student Attendance and Engagement Policy (DOC – 327KB).
-
You will receive an e-Visa. You must log in and check that all the information is correct, including:
- Name and date of birth
- Visa Length
- Work conditions – N/A
The VISA length should be the full length of the course plus four months after the end of the course.
-
If you have a Student Visa and studying at Brimingham Newman University, you are not entitled to work part time and/or undertake any form of paid work in or out of term time.
You will also not be entitled to apply for the Graduate route following completion of your course. Breaking these rules may lead to removal from the UK (possible with an entry ban).
-
If you intend to leave the UK during your studies, you should consult with the University to ensure you have the necessary written authority to do so.
If you have finished your studies and wish to leave the UK but have time left on your Student Visa and intend to return for graduation, please request a graduation letter from the compliance support team.
The University has a responsibility to report to the Home Office any student who fails to register. If you are unable to register on time, please contact the University.
