Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses

As part of your condition of entry we may require you to undertake a Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) course.

Completion of a course may have been given as a condition of entry following an interview for a teacher training programme.

What is a SKE?

The SKE course is undertaken before starting an initial teacher training course. You must hold a conditional offer of a place on an initial teacher training course either at Newman University or another provider before you can start an SKE course.

Courses in each subject are either 8 or 12 weeks long, this will be discussed at the interview.

Funding:
There are no course fees payable by you, these are met by the Department for Education (DfE).  There will be a bursary available of £175/ week, for eligible students, which is also funded by the DfE. Please visit the Get into Teaching website for further information.
