Alumni Daniel Evans

Daniel Evans graduated from Newman University in 2018 with a first class honours in Business Management. During his time at Newman, Daniel created the first student-led Enterprise Group, NEST. Daniel’s aims were to encourage students to think big; give students a safe place to share business thoughts; provide resources to assist in the development of ideas; and to empower students to take their ideas further.

Upon graduating from Newman Daniel continued working with Newman University and their Business and Employability team and founded the Birmingham Enterprise Community (BEC).

BEC is a social enterprise with the goal of building a collaborative and supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem that is able to cater for the needs of those within it. By working with those in the community and the wider West Midlands community we are able to create new opportunities and open resources to those who wish to use them to create positive change through enterprise and entrepreneurial activities.

On Thursday 12th November, Daniel was highly commended in the Young Director of the Year Awards at the Institute of Directors Midlands Awards. The awards celebrate leadership talent, success and achievement across the region.

Daniel commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to have received this recognition from the Institute of Directors for my work on Birmingham Enterprise Community. This was an organisation that started from an idea I had whilst setting up the NEST society at Newman during my time at the university. I would like to give a big thanks to the members of staff at Newman within the enterprise team and business department who gave me so much encouragement and support when I was working on this idea and continued to support me even after graduating.”

A fantastic achievement, congratulations Daniel.
