Biography
Dr Whitehead is currently a company director, consultant, researcher and educator in a freelance capacity. His previous full time leadership role was as clinical lead at University of Derby. Previously, he had a range of academic management roles including deputy dean; chair of the college research committee; CQC registered manager; and head of school of nursing. He is an experienced academic manager and has a good research and publication profile with over 500 citations to more than 50 academic outputs. He has experience in e-learning, clinical research, lecturing, facilitation, and public policy. He is a nursing education professional with a PhD focused in adult education and clinical nurse education from University of Nottingham. Dr Whitehead has been a registered nurse since 1990 and practised in acute medicine including coronary care for 18 years. He is a founder member; formerly national general secretary; and currently part of the national leadership executive committee of the UK Clinical Nurse Educator Network.
