Cassie Rowland

Biography

Cassie gained a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science at Sheffield University before beginning her career in the sciences within DNA analysis for the Forensic Science Service. She moved into Health Recruitment as a consultant working for ReedHealth where she secured Locum opportunities for various health professionals across the NHS, Private Practice and other industries. She thenĀ  progressed into Business Management and set up a regional interim HR recruitment business for the SR Group then moved to the care industry as Regional Care Manager. She started retraining as an Integrative Psychotherapist on the MSc Psychotherapy programme here at Newman University in 2015. After qualifying, she spent some time teaching Counselling studies in Further Education prior to coming into Higher Education for Newman as a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2021. Alongside this, she also runs a small private practice. She is an accredited member of UPCA and UKCP and a registered member of BACP.

Research Interests

Cassie was awarded a distinction in her final year MSc research dissertation exploring Imposter Phenomena in trainee therapists.

 

Teaching

Cassie teaches across the suite of professional and academic Counselling and Psychotherapy courses and trainings at Newman. She is module leader for Counselling Skills, Case Discussion Groups and Ethical, Professional and Contextual issues. She also facilitates personal development groups.
