Craig Bolton

Biography

Craig Bolton is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy within the School of Nursing and Allied Health within the Faculty of Arts, Society and Professional Studies at Birmingham Newman University. Craig is a qualified physiotherapist, member of the CSP and registered with the HCPC with a specialist interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and orthopaedics. Prior to joining Birmingham Newman University as a lecturer, Craig had been in clinical practice for over four years both in the NHS and private sector. This involved completing rotations in the emergency department, trauma and orthopaedics, stroke unit, and outpatients before going on to specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in occupational health, private clinics, and NHS outpatients. Craig has also previously been a business owner for over three years (independent gym and physiotherapy clinic).

From an academic perspective, Craig has completed a Master of Science in Physiotherapy and a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Science. Craig is due to commence the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PG Cert) from September 2024 with Birmingham Newman University. Craig has also completed additional short courses such as the practice educator course, principles of team leading, and acupuncture and dry needling.

Craig has also achieved the CSP’s East Midlands Regional Network (EMRN) award for highest academic achievement whilst studying his Master of Science in Physiotherapy which involved receiving 95% for his dissertation/service transformation project and being recommended for publication.

Profile

Research Interests/Publications

Craig continues to have a strong interest in research since completing his Master of Science. His interests lie in the field of orthopaedics and musculoskeletal physiotherapy with a particular interest in the shoulder and knee. In the future, Craig would like to pursue research studies and publication.

Membership of Professional Bodies:

Craig maintains his registration as a registered physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Craig is also a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
