Biography
Japheth holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria and M.Sc in Finance and Investment from Birmingham City University with a Distinction. He is a chartered Accountant who belongs to leading professional accountancy bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants CIMA UK, Association of International Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) USA, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
Before joining Newman University, he was a lecturer at Aston Business School, Aston University Birmingham where he taught modules in finance, accounting, and Business analytics. Away from academics he has worked in the industry for over a decade and had risen to the position of Chief Finance officer (CFO).
His research interest focuses on emergent issues in accounting, finance, and inestment such as financial analytics; Artificial Intelligence and Financial markets; cryptocurrency; asset pricing; Big Data Analytics and Financial regulations; Taxation, financial Technology (FinTech); and ESG and Sustainable and Climate Related Reporting.
He has won several awards including the following: Best Graduate in Finance and Investment Prize Winner 2022; Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) Education Award 2022; and Aims International Magazine Award for the Most Innovative CFO for Oil and Gas Industry 2020

Teaching
He is responsible for developing curriculum and delivering learning in subject areas such as management and decision accounting, international finance, and taxation.
Administrative Responsibilities
He serves as the liaison between the university and the professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW) to maintain the accreditation of the B.Sc degree programme in Accounting and Finance.
